The Blue Mountain Valley

Walla Walla is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Located in the Southeast corner of Washington State, it is 10 miles from the Milton-Freewater, Oregon and 70 miles from the Idaho border.

With it's rolling hills, many streams and moderate climate, the agricultural and growing wine industry flourishes. The cities downtown area won national recognition in 2001 for it's revitalization of the downtown area.

Cyclists can find themselves cruising the scenic roads virtually within minutes of downtown. There you will find all types of terrain from long flat "go for it" sprints, small and medium sized rolling hills to 8% 1 mile hill climbs. For those who enjoy mountain biking, you are but a 10 minute bike ride to the base of the Blue Mountains. With a multitude of trails, you could ride forever. For the BMXer's, a brand new course has been built at Fort Walla Walla.

Visitors and riders will be able to tour Whitman Mission, Fort Walla Walla Museum, the historically restored Marcus Whitman Towers and many other places of interest. The arts are well represented with plays being presented at all three local colleges and the Little Theatre. Like old movies? Then bring a folding chair and enjoy the wide screen outdoor movie behind Main street.

Locally sponsored events include the annual Balloon Stampede, Wheelin' Walla Walla Weekend, and the Annual Fair & Frontier Days rodeo.

Within a few minutes drive are the Washington communities of Dayton, Waitsburg, Pasco, Kennewick and Richland.

Oregon communities close by include Milton-Freewater, Athena, Weston and Pendleton. Each of these towns hold special events year round. So, if you live outside our community, come visit us, enjoy the friendly atmosphere, and don't forget to bring your bike.

Should you choose to ride Spring Creek there is a good chance you might see some wild turkeys, deer and even elk. That's not to mention the beautiful
farm homes and barns.

Additional information about the community and events, visit the Walla Walla Chamber of Commerce, WallaWalla.com, or City of Walla Walla web sites.
